Alert Program for Self-Regulation
The Alert Program uses a car engine analogy … sometimes my engine runs FAST, sometimes my engine runs Slow, sometimes my engine runs just right. The child participates in a group where we go through 12 mile markers as we experiment with different sensory strategies and their impact on our engines. Families and teachers support this process by beginning to label their own engine speeds and modeling application of the ideas.
Kashish Venaik was an OTD student completing her capstone project with us in Spring 2026 to build a structure to support future OT fieldwork students as they learn how to facilitate these groups! The following are videos that Kashish has created to help support families and students understand the process.
