Occupation is really an old word for doing. Somehow we tend to just think about work and while that is one kind of occupation, there are many others. Types of occupation include play/leisure, self care, sleep etc. This link is to a page that I plan to collect things to do for fun!

Family to Family Supports

One of the most valuable resources are access to knowledgeable families who have been where you are. They provide support and help negotiate systems to access what works.

I knew no one with a child like mine. Much of the advice we received from onlookers and even many professionals was at best not helpful and at worst, harmful. We needed access to strong, knowledgable family to family resources. The Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health is a great resource to learn about best practices such as wraparound, youth peer to peer supports, and school mental health initiatives. It is important to learn about systems and how to leverage policy and laws to advocate effectively for your child. The button below will take you to The NFFCMH Website, specifically to the section of that site about “family driven” initiatives.
